D.R.I, Texas’ sensational crossover thrash music artists, are bringing their signature sounds to the Reggie's Rock Club!
D.R.I. (short for Dirty Rotten Imbeciles) was formed in Houston in 1982. They’ve had various line-up changes since then and the band is currently composed of two of its founding members (vocalist Kurt Brecht and guitarist Spike Cassidy), drummer Walter 'Monsta' Ryan and bassist Harald Oimoen. D.R.I started off as a punk band but they gradually mixed more elements of heavy metal into their sound. Their songs got longer, featured more sections and tempo variations, which ultimately allowed them to cross over to metal audiences while retaining their skatepunk and hardcore fan bases. The group would practice at Kurt and Eric's parents' home and make so much noise their parents would constantly complain. They were once called a “bunch of dirty rotten imbeciles” which led to the band’s name. They’ve had a stellar career with 7 studio albums, 2 EPs, 1 compilation album, 2 live albums, and they were a musical catalyst for their contemporaries (most notably Suicidal Tendencies, Corrosion of Conformity, S.O.D. and Cryptic Slaughter).
